purrfect.

today probably marks as the coldest day of this year so far. the temperature during the commute this morning was 7F, with a -10F windchill. despite the cold, friday is usually my favorite day of the week to commute; D is back in town and goes into the city with me. it sounds silly, but it's kinda special since friday is the only workday where i get to spend the morning routine with him. we wake, get ready, watch the news, and head out of the apartment together.

this morning, we decided to have breakfast together on the walk to work. nothing fancy, but ducking into the guy&gallard cafe, away from the brutally cold morning, and break up the commute was the best decision ever. while we were eating, i got a few text messages from nat, asking if i can meet her before work. since her office was close to where we were, we briskly walked over.

my friday was already off to a great start, and meeting up with nat just made it better! she went to dough to pick up some treats for her office, and handed me my own little bag with a card and wished me a happy early vday. i couldn't wipe off the smile on my face as i headed to my office and dug into the doughnut.

it was a mini donut, which made me feel not as guilty for eating it at 9:30am as my extended breakfast. it was sugar glazed, with a red rose petal on top. when i took a bite, the first thing i experienced (other than the crunch of the glaze from the cold weather, and then the softness of the dough) was this stream of chilled cream filling that tasted like roses. yum! i was so glad that i didn't decide to share this with anyone! the rose flavored cream filling was not overpowering at all; it only made the doughnut eating experience so much more heavenly.

needless to say, i was beyond happy this morning. oh, and the mini nerd pack and ferrero rocher chocolate left at my desk from our office secret valentine only added to it. happy friday the 13th, pre-vday. the long weekend ahead is a bonus. this cold weather ain't got nothin' on me!
