painting.

this week, i started prepping our place for painting. to get the apartment ready for an open house and listing next week. patching up nail holes and such. little things. hard to believe that these little things can become such big projects. it's also amazing to me that some people can't see past paint when they are house shopping.

D lived in this apartment for the past 7.5 years, and had never cleaned the walls or trims. "experts" would recommend one to clean and wipe off doors and trims at least once a year to get rid of dust and help freshen up the home. no one does that. no one should think about cleaning the walls or trims or doors. that's unless the balcony door has a draft, and blows in black dust that has covered the back wall and made it dusty. you really don't notice it unless you started patching the wall, and see dark rings around the newly patched area and wonder what's going on.

enter mr. clean magic eraser and a rag (out of d's old old t-shirts). wipe on, wipe off. patch, paint. and after a few hours on a cold, chilly saturday night, viola! the apartment looks brand new!

today, we spent a few more hours touching up the trims, packing (decluttering), and moving some furniture pieces around to make the place more presentable. it's nice to move things around every so often. now the apartment looks so different. i'm liking it.

oh right, there's also the bathroom ceiling. since we did our bathroom renovation april 2013, we never bothered repainting the ceiling to cover up the patch work of the new recessed lights which were installed. don't even get me started on ceiling paint. long short of the story is, ceiling paint is a pain in the butt, and required us to repaint the whole ceiling. D stepped in and owned that project and saved me from neck pain.

all this preparation to sell the place. don't even get me started on packing yet. i stress myself out too much.

breathe in, breathe out. om. everything will be done. everything will be ok. this is just paint.
