i'm fortunate that there are so many great lunch options around my office, so one of my co-workers and i finally decided to go out for lunch today. and how did i ever miss that there's a mexicue restaurant literally 2 blocks away?!
it's rare that we have a quite day, and since it was a day before i left for vacation, i said "screw it" and had a sit down lunch. this place is my new favorite lunch spot. the menu had so many different options, i think i would come back every day to try a different dish.
she opted for the kale & quinoa salad, while i chose the avocado & chicken sandwich. oh, and we also started with a side of grilled cornbread. the portions were huge! and the food was so delicious.
the grilled cornbread came with chipotle butter (amazing) and had just the right amount of charred edges for me. i also kind of ate my sandwich "deconstructed" - though the brioche bread was also to die for - i think they gave me two "bottoms" of the bread, but i am not complaining.
overall, the meal left me so satisfied, and i can't wait to go back to try more...like the queso & burnt ends brisket chili, mexican street corn, burnt ends brisket bowl, chipotle chicken & wild mushrooms bowl...and like everything else.

money does buy happiness.
eating is one of my favorite activities. eating dessert makes the activity so much more enjoyable, if it's even possible. though in effort to try to limit my sugar intake, i don't usually have dessert, especially after lunch. however, it was almost impossible to pass on anything that is labeled with "brown", "butter", and "salt". sweet and savory.
the good batch was sold at dig inn. i figured that if i'm having a pretty healthy lunch, it won't hurt to pick up these thick shortbread cookies. the sea salt on top made it perfect. and i couldn't stop eating after just one; i had to finish the other cookie as well. maybe one day i'll get inspired to remake them at home. but why suffer myself through the foreseen disappointment when my cookies don't come out as tasty? i'll just spend another four dollars to buy myself guaranteed happiness!
see, money does buy happiness.*
