monthly purchases.

last month's purchases were all for the apartment. sorry, i promise i won't talk about the apartment all the time.

it was mostly (a lot) of home depot and lowe's entries on the credit card bill. a summary of some of the more exciting purchases:

1. paint
the original bedroom paint was a very lavender lavender color. not quite our taste. i explored many different paint colors, but it wasn't until after visiting my sister's house over chinese new year weekend, we fell in love with the paint color she's used in her hallways. we decided on that color for the master and are so happy with the choice. not only was the color choice a great one, the paint we went with made the whole job a lot easier. the behr marquee interior paint was more expensive than the "regular" paint, but a little bit less than benjamin moore. it's seriously the best i've used; one coat, and we're done. no going back and forth and filling out spots, no streaks. we finished the bedroom with less than an one-gallon can. success!

2. living room rug
we were looking for a replacement to the living room rug - a bigger one - 8 x 10'. after shopping around online and at various stores, we were pretty beat and started to think that it'll all just depend on luck and time for us to find the perfect fit. well, 5 minutes after we came to that conclusion, at the checkout line at homegoods, i spotted something rolled up at the corner of the cash wrap. low and behold - a 8 x 10' rug that someone just returned (because it was too big for their place). the color and pattern were perfect.

3. medicine cabinet
the master bathroom did not have a medicine cabinet, which meant that everything had to be stored on the counter, or in the undersink cabinets. since both options were either unacceptable (by D since he likes the counters clean) or inconvenient, we had to find another option for quick and easy access to everyday items. luckily, there was enough wall space to fit in a slim ikea cabinet. i built and installed it (with D's help) last night, and organized all the little things in it. ah, one more box down, and quite the improvement for our morning routine.
