we decided to go back to the same st. regis resort in puerto rico, because we loved it and enjoyed it so much. however, this time around, also invited one my of besties and her boyfriend. and, because of D's extensive travel, the resort fulfilled our request for a suite upgrade!
the trip started with a hiccup, when our car service got a flat tire, just 4 miles shy of JFK. thankfully, the driver had all the tools needed to change a flat, but it was having a hard time with some of the screws. D jumped in to help. it took about 30 mins, but we still had more than enough time to make our flight. phew.
we flew into SJU on friday afternoon, picked up our car rental, and proceeded to the resort. this resort is located about a 30 min drive from san juan, next to the el yunque rainforest, and was built on an old coconut plantation. there are still many coconut trees on the property (with coconuts!!), but i found it interesting that they don't use any of the coconuts, but buy from a local farm (and charge $10/ea!) instead. what a waste!

when we arrived and checked in, we went straight to the beach and walked around, enjoying the sunset, followed by dinner at molasses.

the next few days were filled with pool side lounging, reading, golfing, and playing tennis! though this was supposed to be a relaxing trip, we were still able to stay active.

on saturday night, we dined at fern, a jean-georges restaurant. the last time D and i were there, we opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing...one of the best meals! this time around, we just ordered a la carte. both nat and i got the slow cooked salmon, with a side of potato puree, which was to die for. D got the branzino while caleb went for the grouper. we were all on a fish diet!!

during our stay, there was also a wedding on the same weekend! heard that the group is from the new york/east coast region. a little creepy, but nat was able to find the insta hashtag to that wedding! we didn't crash it, but admired it from afar. it was very tasteful and elegant.
on monday, before we had to leave the beautiful resort for the airport, nat and i were able to take advantage of the tennis courts, and played for an hour! i think the last time i played tennis was when i was on my high school team, but despite that, picking up the game was easy. we were also able to use their spa facilities and the amazing outdoor shower, as well as the ice cold plunge pool!
i came back with a little more color (no burning!), and a little more relaxed. D, however, had to fly to MN for a project the next morning. but now that we are a bit more recharged, i think it's time to plan for another getaway!
