monthly purchases.

it's that time of the month again. i think i bought too much this past month, but not all of it for myself or for D, more for our parents and their birthdays!

1. denim jacket

finally the weather has warmed up for me to wear this purchase i got back in march, when gap was offering their f&f discount. the last denim jacket i had, i remember was from nordstrom, back in high school. i've been missing this piece from my wardrobe for a while now, and am so excited to have it back. it literally matches everything.

2. slip dress

another little basic i've been missing from my wardrobe. i tried to go for cheaper versions, but they never worked out (due to sub-par material, ie, polyester or nylon or just crap), i ended up spending more money than i would have if i had just started with this version. well, it is considered as a "new product", so i wouldn't have gotten it earlier anyways. the sandwashed silk crepe de chine feels amazing against my skin! i have two other drapey long silk dresses from j.crew last year, and love them both, so i knew when i saw the material of this slip dress, i would fall in love with it. best thing is, it's machine washable! (though i have not tried washing it yet). currently wearing it as a top, tucked into a skirt. i may have to go back and buy all the other colors too.

3. sweaters

i'm a little ashamed to say that i've been buying a lot from j.crew, especially during their sales!! and you may also think, why sweaters? i mean, it is 70f out today. this sweater kept me warm, but not too warm, during those awkward 40f days, and also something i can dress up or down. i bought 3 colors of them, and have been wearing them religiously.

4. slouchy pants

we went to woodbury a few weeks back, and i picked up an amazing pair of theory pants in navy. they were on super sale, so i had no problem falling in love with them!! they are slouchy, so comfy, with an elastic band that doesn't cut. classic, sporty, dressed up - everything. i'm just sad that they didn't have my size anymore in black.

as i'm shopping, i've noticed that i'm definitely paying attention to what i'm adding to my closet, and what i'm willing to part with. more basic and classic pieces that can mix and match easily with my existing pieces, and getting rid of the old, cheap things that have been worn beyond their life.
