dol.

time flies faster when you watch a little one all of a sudden grow up. our nephew and niece's birthdays are only 4 days apart, so this weekend, we went down to VA to celebrate both.

D and i both took friday as a traveling-working-day, and took conference calls on the drive down. we got there earlier than expected, and was able to join the family dinner to celebrate Landon's 3rd birthday; J made chicken tonkatsu, and we celebrated with a tres-leches cake from a local bakery.

the next day is the big 1st birthday celebration for Lexi! she had a traditional korean dol celebration. the spread was amazing, and i can't wait for the family pictures to come back!

butterfly themed dol.

we all wore our hanboks for the beginning of the party, and then changed back to our western clothes. Lexi had a custom hanbok made for her.

lexi in the cutest hanbok!

as a tradition, the baby is put in front of various objects, such as a paint brush (scholar), violin (musician), money (businessman), string (long life), etc, to choose from, and from that tell the baby's fortune. Lexi picked the golf ball, which probably meant that she'll be into sports! or that she just really liked the ball.

D and i with the kids.

i can't believe how fast the kids have grown!
